In the region of rivers and lakes in the south of Changjian River, there were narrow rivers across the town, the exquisite stone arch bridges, the houses built on the banks of the rivers.
Under the houses' floor is water. And the wharfs extend under floor boards step by step. Several women were washing on the wharfs. A wisp cooking smoke rises from the awning boat and goes through the hole of bridges the opposite bank. There were some short and wide stone benches for rest.
Several old men sit on the benches and look boats come and go calmly. The scene is peaceful and far from being momentum.
They have been there for years, but the peaceful life style do not became them into ruin and historical remains. So we can not heart the deep sign of the history. Of course they have experience of glory and dishonor; but they do not experience the over magnificence, so they can not give people the old and experienced feelings like the Rose finch Bridge or Wuyi Lane. In all, the experience and real appearance of the region of rivers and lakes were simple and durable, narrow and age-old; and like the crisscross stone streets of the town.
The magnificent things die in the twinkling, and the noise and excitement stand for short life. There is no other place which can stand for the peace and quite life as the little in the south of Changjiang River. After a setback of the real life, a batch of Chinese literati escape into the Buddhism or Taoism, but most of the do not live in temple or Taoist temple.
After all, it is with many troubles to living an out-of-the-way place. So the best way to be a hermit is to conceal in the little town of the south of river. Common is the opposite of illustrious, the common people is the opposite of the government official. And comparing with the place in High Mountain with thick forest, it is easier to conceal living in town as the common people. To conceal in mountain and forest conserve and flaunt a kind of proud loneliness. And the proud loneliness is affected after all. And the concealing in the town make hermit to have good life but to be suffer and ruined. It can make soul clear and to be baptized, so the concealing in the town is the top form to be a hermit.
